Orostalgia!

24th November 2009 (1 Comments)

Not everyone wants a ”healthy” variant of their favorite old skool product. The SA youth market ranks nostalgia  high on their list of purchasing motivators. Here’s a great case in point:

“So I’m big on concentrate juice. Always have a bottle of it in the cupboard as a back up in case the fridge is empty. Haven’t seen very much change in this category for a while, but spotted this: OROS Iced Tea Concentrate. It doesn’t really work for me though. When I think Oros I think MSG, flourescent colouring, and synthetic goodness. When I think Iced Tea, I think… a healthier alternative… these two don’t really go well together for me. Even as an avid mixa drink consumer – I wouldn’t try it.”

Rifqah

Ice tea tastes like something watered down so I think this isn’t such a bad idea. I’m not a fan of either so I won’t be trying it anytime soon.

I associate Oros with people who have lots of kids and can’t afford to always have fresh juice. If that is their market, I think moving towards healthier products is definitely a positive thing.
